Horticulture in Harris County

The Extension Horticulture program in Harris County promotes horticultrual practices that protect the quality of life for area residents and promote a safe environment. We are dedicated to helping people choose adapted plants for their Gulf Coast Texas landscapes, businesses and gardens.

Residential Horticulture

We also teach techniques to recycle grass clippings, leaves and other landscape wastes at home, less toxic pest control options for the garden and landscape, and Earthkind techniques to reduce water use in the landscape. We give practical advice on managing pests and diseases and fertilizing, without contaminating our surface and groundwater supplies.

Contact our Ask a Master Gardener Hotline to have all your home gardening questions answered by volunteers trained to provide the latest research-based information. For more in-depth information attend an upcoming educational event or browse our online publications for printed information.
